PREACHING & TEACHING

Through provocative, moving and applicable preaching and teaching, we are all challenged to really think about our roles: not just as members of this church but as members of the greater Atlanta community, citizens of the world and humble followers of Jesus Christ.

Sermon Series |  Speaking Lent

In this sermon series we will explore, claim, and reclaim some of the most important and common words associated with the season of Lent. As we move through this season, we will spend time on some of the most important vocabulary associated with Lent so we might be prepared for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

April 7th at 11 A.M. | 100th Anniversary of The First Worship Service

On April 7, we recognize and celebrate the 100thAnniversary of the first worship service in our historic sanctuary.  The dedication of our sanctuary took place on April 6, 1919. We will have a dedicated liturgy for the day, diverting from our Lenten sermon series, to mark this special occasion.  We will worship using the similar liturgical elements and songs from that spring Sunday back in 1919.  There will be no 9:00 a.m. service that day – just the 8:00a.m. (Speaking Lent series) and the 11:00 a.m. for the 100thanniversary.

Concerts at First

The Concerts @ First Series (formerly Musica Sacra Atlanta) runs from September through May, offering diverse programs by reputed soloists and ensembles in the beautiful setting of First Pres’ sanctuary.

The Arts Council offers events throughout the year, including gallery tours and lectures. They also take great advantage of our location so close to the Woodruff Arts Center.

Lay Leadership Nominees

The Nominating Committee is responsible for preparing an annual slate of 5 Ruling Elders (two of whom will be Trustee-Elders) and 8 Ministry Leaders who will be ordained for particular service to the church.
