First Presbyterian Church is committed to embodying Christ’s love in the community around us. We offer a number of services to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, transitioning, and in need.

Connection Services

  • A fully functional computer lab to use for your varied personal needs.

    Offered: Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    Sign-Up: Starts at 11:30 a.m. on the same day.

    Classes offered every Wednesday with Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency. Sign up starting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday

  • Sign up to receive mail and/or pick up mail using the church address.

    Offered: Mondays - Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., no appointment necessary!

    Required: Provide picture ID and sign the “Guidelines for Receipt of Mail.” You should be able to show ID each time you come in to pick up mail.

    To Sign Up: Simply come by and fill out a form!

Food Services

  • A bagged to-go lunch consisting of a sandwich and three snack items.

    Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. or until bags last.

  • Come and join us for a hot, homemade breakfast consisting of grits, sausage, biscuits, jelly, and hard-boiled eggs.

    Offered: Sundays 6:30 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.

    Enter via the 16th Street Entrance, through the double doors!

  • A food pantry dedicated to supporting the residents of Midtown Atlanta. Twice a month, select and receive essential groceries at no cost.

    Required: Proof of housing in the form of a lease or utility bill.

    Offered: Every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. by appointment only!

Hygiene Services

  • Provides items such as toiletries, underwear, socks, and others.

    Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

  • An opportunity to receive clean clothing once every seven days.

    Offered: Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    Sign-Up for a time slot starts at 11:30 a.m. on the same day.

  • A 15 minute shower after you are given a Hygiene kit (includes toiletries, washcloth, and towel) and get to pick a new set of clothing.

    For Men:

    • Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

      • Sign-Up starts at 1:00 p.m.

    • Sundays from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

      • Sign-Up starts at 8:00 a.m.

    For Women:

    • Mondays from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

      • Sign-Up starts at 1:00 p.m.

  • Free haircuts provided by Atlanta Technical College

    Offered: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

    Sign-Up starts at 1:00 p.m.

Social Services

Get assistance receiving vital records.

Offered: Monday - Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Sign-Up for same day appointments starting at 10:00 a.m.

Walk-In appointments available on a first come, first serve.

  • Bring a working, in-service phone. If you do not have one, you will have to visit the office at 1249 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW, Atlanta, GA, 30318.

  • Anywhere in the U.S. We are unable to get birth certificates for people born outside of the U.S. except if you were born to U.S citizens while abroad.

  • Vouchers cover the cost of getting a state ID. It does not cover fees for a driver’s license.

  • You need either an ID or a TB card to receive a social security card. If you have a working phone, call and make the appointment with the Social Security Office at 866-931-9946.

We cannot help with Marta Cards, financial assistance, bus tickets, job search, employment assistance, or ordering cell phones. While we cannot assist with these services, we do have resource lists available for places that do!

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer options include the following:

  • Volunteers are needed to staff the Community Ministries Clothing corner on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers can expect to interact with clients by helping them select items of clothing while also organizing and sorting clothing.

    Location: 1st Floor of the Smith Building, 1328 Peachtree Street, N.E. Atlanta, GA 30309

  • Volunteers are needed to staff the Hospitality Closet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The volunteer will distribute items from the closet such as tooth brushes, razors, blankets, etc. Additionally, volunteers will aid in keeping the closet organized and restocking with donated items.

  • Volunteers are needed on a regular basis to purchase, prepare, and drop off lunch bags. Completed lunch bags can be delivered to the church at 1328 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta GA 30294, Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the security desk located at the rear entrance of the church.

    Lunch bags consist of a sandwich (PB & J or Turkey & Cheese), small bag of chips, fruit or fruit snack and peanut butter crackers. Lunches can be packed in brown or white paper bags. Encouraging or inspirational notes in the bags are optional but appreciated!

  • Volunteers are needed to staff the Mailroom, Mondays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mailroom volunteer will ensure the mail is sorted properly, filed, and distributed to the correct individuals while also engaging in fellowship with Community Ministries clients and each other.

  • Originally founded in 1981, the Prayer Breakfast at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is a well-known part of FPC’s ministry to our unhoused neighbors. During the breakfast, our neighbors can grab a warm meal and engage in fellowship with one another, and the volunteers present. The Prayer Breakfast not only aims to meet the human needs of our unhoused neighbors but also to address the spiritual needs of everyone involved in the breakfast through active community and fellowship.

    The breakfast is held at Location: 1st Floor of the Smith Building, 1328 Peachtree Street in Fifiled Hall from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Volunteers are expected to arrive by 6:00 a.m. and leave by 8:15 a.m.

  • Volunteers are needed to staff the Venable Food Market on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The volunteer will assist with sorting and stocking shelves, helping clients select groceries, and bagging items for clients.

  • Community Ministries is thrilled to revive the historic Foot Care Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta! This vital program supports our neighbors, many of whom depend on walking as their primary means of getting around. Our dedicated Foot Care volunteers provide essential non-clinical care to help keep clients' feet clean, healthy, and comfortable. If you’re interested in joining us as a volunteer, please fill out the inquiry form here!
    We are currently taking inquirys, but this volunteer opportunity won’t start until first quarter of 2025
