The Importance of Music in Liturgy: A Historical and Philosophical Perspective

  • First Presbyterian Church - Fifield Hall 1328 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

For at least the last 2500 years, the importance, meaning, and function of music in society and liturgy has been a matter for serious debate. In this short course, we will examine some of the most important trends in philosophy and theology that form the foundation for the way we think about music today and the decisions we make about music in our liturgy.

Meeting dates: October 24, 31, and November 7

In-person in Fifield Hall and livestreamed here.
